Royal response to a petition from Fray Joseph del Santísimo Sacramento, representative of the Discalced Carmelites of Mexico. Notes that the petition stated that the Carmelites had been excluded from New Mexico by the Viceroy because of the Franciscan presence there. The King endorses the Carmelites' wish to enter the mission field in either California or the Philippines, and commends them to the favor of the Viceroy.
